Dotty privacy
Last updated 4 November 2026
Dotty has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. What you put on your screen goes straight to it over Bluetooth.
What stays on your device
Your statuses, clock choice, pictures, videos, timers and settings. Spotting that you're on a call happens on your device too, and nothing about your calls is sent anywhere.
What leaves your device
Weather, if you set a place. The place name you type goes to Open-Meteo to find it, then its coordinates go there to fetch the forecast. Dotty never asks for your location.
Your license, if you use a Dotty key. Your key, an ID for your device and your device's name go to our server when you activate, and about every 14 days after that, so the key works on the right number of devices. On an iPhone that ID is a random one made for Dotty.
Buying on a Mac. Stripe takes the payment, for Motionbell LLC. We keep your email address, the name you give, the amount and Stripe's reference, so we can send your key and help with it later. The key is emailed through Resend.
Buying on an iPhone. Apple takes the payment, and we don't get your name or any payment details.
Updates on a Mac. Dotty checks for a new version once a day and downloads it from GitHub.
Our server also sees your IP address on each request. It's used to slow down anyone guessing keys, and can appear in short-lived server logs. We don't sell or share any of this, or use it for advertising.
Your choices
Everything on your device goes when you delete Dotty. To see or delete what we hold about your license, write to hi@tarekalward.com.
Dotty isn't aimed at children. If this page changes, the date at the top will too.
